Taking a break...

In case you were wondering why there haven't been any posts going up on this blog over the past week, the reason is simple – we're taking a break. Why are we taking a break you may well ask? We're doing so in order to think about the direction the Thurrock Heckler needs to be going in if it's to be relevant to people in Thurrock looking for radical change.

This means reviewing what we've done and looking at what kind of articles have struck a chord and what has sunk pretty much without trace. We're acutely aware that we are seen as very much 'anti' but currently offering little in the way of a course of action or solutions – that's something we intend to address. What we also want to do is put up some more analytical pieces as well to add a bit of gravitas to the project, but in a clearly defined, separate section to the general news and comment pieces. As well as looking at the blog, we are also going to be taking a long hard look at what we do with the paper as well, scant resources permitting.

There will be changes for sure but they won't come overnight. It'll be a process of evolution over the next month or so to get the project to where we want it to be. One thing that is under consideration is shifting the blog to a new host where it will be easier to implement the changes we want to carry out – obviously we'll keep you posted on that.

With the way things are going, it looks as though it could well be a 'long, hot summer'. We want to get the project in shape to be ready to respond to events in a timely and relevant fashion...
